The 1800 watt appliance features a big burner and adjustable heat settings, with a temperature capacity that varies from 140 to 450 degrees F perfect for everything from gently soft boiled eggs to hearty soups, stews, and more. Convenient to transport and easy to use, the unit heats instantly when needed, while its cookware detection and overheat sensors prevent scorching, heat related injury, and damage to pots and pans. More, the appliance gives a 180 minute timer that aids in properly cooking all dishes, decreasing the risks of overcooking, burning, and waste. For extra safety and less extra heat in the kitchen, the cooktop stays cool except where it comes in contact with the pan. Other details include a user friendly push button control panel with an LED display, a compact design, and short legs for secure placement on a countertop or table. Note that the unit only works with cast iron, carbon steel, magnetic stainless steel, and other stainless steel with magnetic properties. It doesn’t work with aluminum, glass, 18/8 or 18/10 stainless, or copper cookware. The ETL listed induction cooktop measures roughly 14 by 12 3/5 by 2 1/2 inches.

Max Burton 6000 1800Watt Portable Induction Cooktop Reviews and Price:

169 of 171 people found the following review helpful:
3.0 out of five stars A mixed review, March 2, 2009
By Brian Leeland (San Jose, CA United States) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Max Burton 6000 1800 Watt movable Induction Cooktop (Kitchen) there is good news and bad news. I bought this unit as a training unit to check out the technology and have a good extra hob on hand for times when we strain our kitchen resources. The intention is to sooner or later equip our kitchen with an induction cooktop for energy efficiency.

The good news is that the technology works as advertised. It is remarkably fast and has lots of power in spite of running off a normal power outlet. The bad news is that on this unit the heating element (if that’s the correct terminology) is only about seven to eight inches across. It worked good when we made soups, though we did notice that only the center boiled or simmered. But, when frying, the limitation of the element size became a problem. We used a lodge 12″ cast iron skillet to fry fish. The center of the pan put a beautiful tan on the panko, but the outside of the pan was comparatively cool, requiring that each part of fish be flipped to four positions before it was properly cooked.
We tested the unit by wetting the bottom of a cold pan and watching how it dried. The center bubbled and dried, but the outer bottom was only warm to the touch. I thought possibly it was faulty, but other reviewers commented on the problem.

I notice that majority of the units on the market don’t identify the size of the heating element. If this exposes a problem with the technology or is just marketing keeping away from a problem with inexpensive units I can not tell.

I am hopeful of the technology, but returned this unit because of it is restrictions. If you only use smaller pans, or rarely, if ever, fry, I recommend it.

As was mentioned before the 1st unit arrived broken.

95 of 96 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars Induction Cooking 101, August 15, 2010
By Music Lovers (Oregon) See all my reviews () This review is from: Max Burton 6000 1800 Watt movable Induction Cooktop (Kitchen) As an experienced cook with many years of cooking with Induction under my belt, I could like to share my experience, and clear up many of bad info propagated by many well meaning, but totally ineligible people who submitted comments about the Max Burton 6000 Induction Cooker. I’m also an Electronics & Mechanical Engineer, giving me extra insight into many of the issues being discussed.

First off, this Induction Cooker is a tremendous bargain, comparing favorably with merchandise many times its cost. It’s really an 1800 Watt (input) Induction Cooker. Induction Cookers can not be compared to simple hotplates that use a resistive heating element. Electric hotplates, alike to regular gas and electric burners are at best around 50 economical. The wasted heat simply goes into heating your kitchen and makes your stove and cookware handles scorching hot. Induction Cooking is usually 80 90 economical. Remember that though the Max Burton 6000 is a great value, it’s still a light responsibility, “entry level” Induction Cooker (NOT for uninterrupted commercial cooking use). If it can be used properly, it should give years of dependable service. Though I own a big Wolf commercial gas range, Induction hobs like this became my cooking “weapon of choice”.

You can think about the following to be “Induction Cooking 101″. This will assist cooks who are new to Induction Cooking get a fast grip on the basics:

Cookware: Your satisfaction with Induction Cooking is directly proportional to the quality of your cookware. The cookware MUST have the following two characteristics:
First: At least the bottom must be ferrous (in other words, a magnet must strongly “stick” to it). Hint: Take a magnet with you when searching for cookware.
Second: Your cookware must also be a good heat conductor of heat. Induction cooking only generates heat in a 5 7″ circle in the bottom of your pan. The heat conduction characteristics of the pan let the heat to travel external and up the sides of the pan. If the pan is a poor heat conductor, you’ll have a small hot spot in the center of the pan, and the rest will be comparatively cool. The best cookware is triple clad (magnetic stainless steel outside, aluminum or copper center level, non magnetic stainless interior cooking surface). Vollrath “Tribute” cookware is my favorite (not inexpensive, but really performs great!!). Next best is a laminated pad or “cap” on the bottom of a stainless pan (similar to the totally triple clad, but does not conduct much heat far up the sides of the pan). Cast Iron and decorated Cast Iron works pretty well for slow cooking and braising, but in spite of liked belief, it isn’t a great conductor of heat, and can exhibit hot spots if used at high heat settings. AGAIN, Induction Cooking has no radiant energy, nor a gas flame to heat the sides of your cookware. Your cookware MUST be a good heat conductor!

Yes you may be able to preheat an empty pan (if you follow my directions)!. 1st a little info about the way your Induction Cooker senses the temperature of your pan. The heat sensor is under the glass/ceramic cooking surface. Due to thickness of this surface, it takes a finite total of time for heat from the bottom of the pan to “soak” down through the cooking surface to reach the temperature sensor. If you choose a high heat or temperature setting firstly, the pan will quickly get screaming hot before the heat sensor “knows” about it (a phenomenon called “overshoot”). The remedy is to start your pan in the “temp” mode at a low temp. Setting (like 180F). Once the pan, cooking surface and temp sensor stabilized (you will hear a clicking sound as the cooker cycles the power on and off), you may be able to advance to higher settings in a alike way and get on with your cooking.

I have read the comments about many users developing cracks in the top surface of the plastic housing to the left of the display & keypad. This is nearly surely caused by using cookware that laps over the edges of the cooking surface, or using high heat settings, The flat part of the bottom of your cookware shouldn’t surpass ten 1/2″ inches.

Unless you’re bringing a pot of water to a boil, resist the temptation to cook at the higher heat and temperature settings unless it’s really needed. Remember that Induction Cooking pumps an astonishingly great total of thermal energy into the BOTTOM of your cookware. Be sure that you and your cookware are up to the task!

The only big gripes that I have with the Max Burton 6000 is the INTOLERABLY deafening BEEPER and the very inflexible, cheap power cord (“MAX”, ARE YOU READING THIS??!!). As a qualified engineer, I have already “reasoned” with the beeper. . .

Happy Cooking! Bob Ziller

113 of 127 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars Cook dinner without cooking the cook., April 30, 2008
By Joseph Ekaitis “author of Collinsfort Village” (Southern California) See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME) This review is from: Max Burton 6000 1800 Watt movable Induction Cooktop (Kitchen) you must use the Max Burton Induction Cooktop to completely appreciate the induction cooking experience.

At your command are the power and instant answer of an 11500 BTU gas burner without a natural gas line or a butane cylinder in sight. You are cooking with electricity, but unlike a hotplate, an induction cooktop does not emit a single degree of thermal energy. Switch it on without a pan in place and it just shuts itself off. Center a pot of water on the circles, crank the power up to the highest setting, and in minutes, the water’s boiling like there is no tomorrow. Surprisingly, you may be able to rest your hand an 8th of an inch from the pan and the cooking surface is barely warm. At a half inch, it is downright cool to the touch. In fact, about the only heat escaping into the room is from the steam itself. The cooking surface is producing NO heat of its own!

Don’t believe me? Take the pot away, drop a paper napkin on the cooking surface and . . . Nothing. No fireball, no billows of smoke, no glowing ashes flitting around the room. Yes, the surface is hot, but only because it absorbed many heat from the pot.

It’s not magic. It is induction. Computer controlled electromagnetic energy induces the bottom of the pot or pan to produce own heat. It all looks so futuristic but in reality, it is been around since the last century. As is true with all things electronic, the technology gets cheaper as it gets better. Today’s countertop induction cookers are giving their fitted big brothers many real competition. Factor in portability and a small trade off in power, and many people are thinking twice about remodeling the kitchen. Just plug one or two of these into separate circuits, and your kitchen is prepared for any season.

In the summer, use your induction cooker for stovetop cooking. And do not be scared to turn on the A/C and turn the roof fan to High, if you are simmering a fragile Hollandaise. There is no flame to blow out, so there is no danger of gassing up the kitchen.

In the winter, an induction cooktop becomes a useful keep warm burner while the waste heat from regular cooking warms up the kitchen. Of course, you already know you may want to NEVER use the stove or oven Exclusively to heat the kitchen but when you are cooking in the dead of winter, that extra warmth will not go to waste.

Any time of year, induction is the technique of choice for sustained low heat cooking that could usually call for a double boiler.

And who says you must keep it in the kitchen? I know people who take their induction cookers out on the patio when the weather’s nice or when they want to cook fish without smelling up the house for weeks. Max Burton offers an induction ready stovetop smoker. Truckers use high wattage inverters to power their induction cooktops when they are on the road. Take it to work, find an empty outlet in the break room, and wow your fellow cubicle dwellers with one of your culinary specialties prepared on the spot, not reheated in the microwave oven. RV cookery not needs to feel like you are fixing dinner in a phone booth over a blast furnace. Remember: Electrical outlet + induction cooker = instant kitchen.

At 1600 watts, the Max Burton offers the most bang for the buck among 120 volt units. The next step up in power, 1800 watts (equivalent to 13000 BTU), is found primarily on commercial units that require beefier electrical circuits than are found in the average home. They also cost about five times the price! Maybe YOU have that kind of money to burn but I’d rather wait a little longer for my pasta water to come to a boil and pocket the difference.

The control panel is simple and uncluttered. If you are comfy with the touchpad controls on a modern oven, you will be right at home. The Function touchpad cycles through Power or Temperature cooking modes and a Timer mode. The Power mode gives ten settings and the Temperature mode steps from 150 to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Setting the timer is a little difficult because it counts up in 5 minute jumps but counts down one minute at a time, so to set 13 minutes, you push the up arrow three times to get to 15 minutes, then the down arrow twice to deduct two minutes.

Now, I can already hear your know it all friends warning “If you purchase one of those, you will have to replace EVERY POT AND PAN IN THE KITCHEN!” Not probably. Line all your pots and pans and pick out those with perfectly flat bottoms. Grab a magnet off the fridge and see if it clings to any of those bottoms. Chances are, it clings to quite some, like Grandma’s cast iron skillet and Aunt Sophie’s enamelware Dutch oven. Hey, look, it clings to the bottom of that pressure cooker you picked up on your last trip to the Galleria! Well, whaddaya know! You DO have many induction ready cookware!

If your kitchen has stainless steel counters or another metal work surfaces, they are off limits because they can weaken the electromagnetic field. A small total of energy radiates from the bottom of the cooktop and can make the surface below too hot to touch. Reserve a spot on a Formica, marble, granite or wooden countertop near an electrical outlet.

And, yes, it is true that every induction cooktop has a fan to keep the magnetic coils cool. The sound is more obvious on a countertop unit than on a fitted but much quieter than a range hood exhaust fan or a microwave oven. If that is the sound of a cooler kitchen, it is music to my ear.

Shipping to:

Simi Valley
Tustin
Oakland
South The unit features a stainless steel spray arm and tub that will not chip, crack, or rust, and its spacious cavity can hold up to four place settings perfect for apartments or smaller size kitchens. Stand salad and dinner plates in the upright position, bowls at an angle, cups upside down along the upper tier, and silverware in the utensil basket. Then decide from three auto wash cycles heavy, normal, and gentle by making a selection from the machine’s user friendly electronic touch pad controls. Add soap and it takes care of the rest. The dishwasher offers a fast sink connect choice or a fixed installation choice, and its compact design stores easily and out of the way in a standard size kitchen cabinet when not used, helping to keep those countertops clear for other daily tasks. Extra highlights include a heavy duty removable lower rack, a convenient drain pump, and a high quality filtration system. In a sleek, modern design and weighing about 50 pounds, the tabletop dishwasher measures 18 8/9 by 22 3/5 by 17 1/5 inches.

Haier HDC1804TW 4PlaceSetting Tabletop Dishwasher Reviews and Price:

129 of 129 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars Great for Singles/Couples Answering many questions I had, July 27, 2010
By Joey85 See all my reviews () This review is from: Haier HDC1804TW 4 Place Setting Tabletop Dishwasher (Kitchen) I ordered this from and it arrived today. I decided on this model exactly because I could get a great deal on shipping via prime. But I wanted to answer a couple of questions that I had before purchasing the item that I did not really see answered anywhere else. Hopefully this helps many people.

This unit is great for singles or possibly couples. I’m single but like to cook, I also work a full time job and am going to school full time, so spending 20 30 minutes (Because I let them overflow) some times per week doing dishes by hand is just impracticable. I was a little worried about what you may be able to really fit in it, and I do not know what a place setting is, so here is what I could fit in it in one load: One big Frying pan, One Medium Sauce Pan, A couple big drinking glasses, a “standard” dinner plate (I am guessing 10.5″?), a couple of small plastic containers, and some cooking utensils. I was able to make these all fit by removing the cutlery basket I figure that I have enough forks/spoons to save them for the next time. So there’s a practical expectation of what you may be able to fit. It seemed to clean all of that stuff good on the normal setting. If I haved company over I may have to run two separate loads, one for pots & pans and one for plates, bowls, glasses, etc.

I’m pretty impressed with the quality of this unit. I was a little worried that this could be more of a toy or a novelty item, but it really does work great. It works exactly the same way as a full sized dish washer does, just on a smaller scale. The faucet hookup makes it adaptable and easy to install. It was easy, it took me about 5 10 minutes till everything was up and running.

The size is bigger than I expected, I’ll admit I had expected that I had lots of space and did not measure Luckily I have about a 1/2 Inch of clearance from under my cupboards and about an inch on every other side It was a really tight fit, you shouldn’t be stupid like me and measure before buying.

The unit is pretty deafening, pretty comparable with a regular dish washer, I could guess that they have less room for sound dampening with the smaller size. It does not annoy me but it’s something to think about for small apartments if you have sensitive neighbors.

Just many other tid bits:
Unlike many models I looked at, this unit has a drain pump instead of draining via gravity, so in hypothesis you may be able to put this at a lower level than your sink, like under your cupboards. I have not tried that, but the drain water does come out with considerable pressure.

It comes with the fast connect faucet connector for hooking your drain/input hoses all together. It also has a separate drain hose for permanent installation, the manual says that you’ll have to supply your input hose though for permanent installation.

This unit uses a “dumping” technique for the detergent. You put the detergent in an indent on the door and it dumps it when you close it. So there’s no sort of “Pre Rinse” or anything.

It looks to manage pausing the cycle pretty good. Pausing the unit in the center of draining does not phase it at all. Nice for me because I usually forget to put things in till the wash cycle is halfway done.

It has a spot on the door for putting Rinse Agents in (Like Jet Dry, etc), which will help with drying. A nice addition!

Speaking of drying, the unit does not seem to have any sort of air or steam drying or anything. It just sits for 15 20 minutes after the rinse cycle and waits for the water to evaporate to dry the dishes. Works great for glasses, plates, pans, etc. Not so great for plastic, which does not keep heat as good, but this looks like the case with many of dish washers, I can deal with it.

The unit claims to use a max of 1280 watts (1200 for the heating element), and 2.5 Gallons of water per cycle. The Normal Cycle lasts 90 minutes, and the Heavy cycle lasts about 120 Minutes, Light is around 40 minutes.

All in all, I’m pleased with the unit, and the awesome deal on prime shipping. I also bought the three Year Squaretrade warranty just in case. I dont have worries that I’ll need it, but I have heard that these movable units overall are prone to leaking. Again, I’m not worried about THIS specific model, but the extra warranty was just about $20 or so and I have heard great things about Squaretrade. I could certainly recommend this to any singles/couples stuck in an apartment without a dishwasher, and sick of tired of doing them by hand.

I will update this review if anything changes.

3 Week Update
I am STILL happy with the unit, it saved me so much time. It’s certainly holding up good, and once you learn how to pack things in there you may be able to easily fit MORE than I had posted in the original review. I’m also impressed as you’re able to fit full sized cookie sheets and pizza pans in it (Just put them on the top).

After using it for about a month, I could recommend as a tip that you use the Gel detergents over the powdered detergents, as I noticed that on occasion the powdered detergent can leave residue on the dried dishes. It just looks like the gel detergent combinations better.

Other than that, I still recommend this. Of course I’ll update it if anything else happens.

22 of 22 people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars Great for an apartment, May 16, 2010
By David See all my reviews () This review is from: Haier HDC1804TW 4 Place Setting Tabletop Dishwasher (Kitchen) I got this overnight for $3.99 with Prime. Must have spent a small fortune just on shipping this thing to me!

Anyway, I will be brief: It does the job. The information were a little simple but it was easy enough to figure out how to hook up. I have it seated over a counter and it takes up a good total of room. It may be a little difficult figuring out how to load the dishwasher to capacity since there is not many of room to play around with. It has three settings, the lowest of which does not wash well at all; the center and “pots and pans” settings work just good. I’d recommend this for anybody who does not like to use up many of time doing dishes, particularly those living by themselves in an apartment.

14 of 14 people found the following review helpful:
3.0 out of five stars Adequate, October 5, 2010
By R. Murphy (Jamaica Plain, MA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Haier HDC1804TW 4 Place Setting Tabletop Dishwasher (Kitchen) My apartment didn’t come with a dishwasher, so after failing to keep up with dish washing by hand I bought this counter top model. In general, I’m happy to have it and it works well enough. But it isn’t perfect by any means.

Size. There’s only 16″ clearance between my counters and the upper cupboards, so this didn’t fit. I had to place it right next to my sink, partially obscuring the window. I knew this before ordering, so it was not a surprise. But be sure you look at the dimensions and measure you space carefully to be sure you have room before ordering. That said, with it is awkwardly big size for counter top placement, it’s quite tight inside. The upper rack is tall enough only for small teacups and four oz juice glasses. Since I rarely use either of these things, it isn’t all that useful to me. The spot behind the plates is weird: too narrow for most glasses or mugs, too large for more plates, and when I tried putting things like mixing bowls there they don’t clean properly.

Cleaning: I have found that this only cleans properly on the highest “pots and pans” setting. The other two alternatives don’t remove all food particles. Many food (like eggs) won’t come off on any setting. When the food does all come off, it’s frequently redeposited. Little flakes of dried food are frequently found on things after “cleaning” and have to be rewashed. This is a specific problem for things placed in corners. Using a rinse aid (like Jet dry) doesn’t help.

Even with the issues, I am happy I bought it. It does save effort and by running it once a day, my two person family can keep up with the dishes (pots and pans still have to be done by hand, they do not fit). I have been using it for two months now and haven’t have any problems with leaks. The cycle takes about three hours and isn’t all that deafening to me (although I’m used to older ’70s and ’80s era built ins, not the modern quieter ones). One cycle only uses about three gallons of water less than I could use when washing by hand.

Shipping to:

Roswell
Memphis<br The food really heats up good only for one minute. It is straight forward a child can use it. I know for a fact the Sharp Microwave are constructed to last a long time that is why I bought this one. I’d greatly recommend this product if you want a microwave that does its job well!!!

Nine of nine people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars very happy, November 19, 2010
By waynec See all my reviews () This review is from: Sharp one Cu.Ft. 1100W Microwave Oven with turntable Black (Kitchen) I’m very happy with this unit. It’s easy to use and works very good.

It is the 1st microwave that I have had where you may be able to use the microwave information on merchandise WITHOUT having to “add time” to what it says. If the product says to microwave for eight minutes that’s all you need.

It was easy to set up: plug it in and set the time. Start microwaving. Only had to look at the operating manual to learn how to set the time and how to set power level (both easy to do).

Looks nice, no problem with reading the display.

One reviewer said they had a dead unit at 1st. This could occur with any product. Since the second one they received worked good you should not have to worry. Many microwaves (Cuisinart) aren’t intended right and do not ever work right, no matter how many times you replace them. This one does work right!

Not too many reviews still but since the two on the site at the time I bought this unit were both positive in general I was confident I maked the right choice. And my choice was right.

Twelve of 13 people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars 1st microwave didn’t work. It could not react to controls, could not turn and could not heat. Sharp support was friendly, but couldn’t do much over the phone. They suggested a local fix shop. Instead, I returned it to Amazon, which was unbelievably easy. The substitute had no issues whatsoever. Ft Compact Refrigerator (Kitchen) If you have ever tried one of those small thermo electric plate refrigerators (as I have), you may have been disappointed by its cooling capability. Sadly, the technology that lets them to be so small also limitations how cold they get. They can keep things cool, but they do not make things really cold. If you like your milk to remain unspoiled and your drinks to be icy cold, compressor refrigerators are the way to go. This Emerson CR180 compact refrigerator runs on a compressor system.

That said, let us start with what everyone wants to know first: How cold does this unit get?

I’ve had this refrigerator running for a week and they are the temperatures I have measured:

Setting number 6..4

Door……34…43 degrees Fahrenheit
Middle counter..33…42
Freezer….18…26

Setting number six is the coldest. The manufacturer’s guide states that setting number three should suffice for majority of people, but I like things on the colder side, so I keep it between four and 5.

Overall, this refrigerator runs silently. There’s, but, a soft “plink” every couple of minutes as the cooling system kicks in. It is barely obvious with all the sound where I work, but it’s something to think about if you’re planning to use the refrigerator in a calm environment.

The outside dimensions are 18 inches high x 18.5 inches large x 20 inches deep. It fits nicely under my desk, and in spite of the manufacturer’s warning not to put heavy objects on top, I do sometimes use it as a footrest.

The freezer holds one frozen dinner (maybe two if you remove the cardboard boxes and just slide the plastic wrapped meal trays in). The picture above where they have filled the refrigerator full is a little misleading in that they have put food on the center counter directly below the freezer, which is where the drip tray goes. As well, the door takes up more space than you may think. In spite of this, it is pretty roomy. For me, there is more than enough room to keep a couple of sandwiches, some bottles of juice and soda, a frozen dinner, and many salad fixings for the week.

If you plan to buy this refrigerator online, make sure to ask the seller 1st how they are going to pack it. The manufacturer’s retail box is certainly not enough for shipping. There’s only a thin (1/2 inch) level of styrofoam on the top and bottom, and none at all on the sides. Most importantly, there’s no protection whatsoever for the most fragile part of the refrigerator. The exposed coolant system in back. With the way most shipping services throw their packages around, chances are good that the refrigerator will be dented, and maybe inoperable, on arrival. Make sure to ask the seller if they will double box it with proper packing materials.

A not many other notes:

Defrosting is manual, not auto.

The door is reversible, so you may be able to make it swing whichever direction you want.

There is no lock and no handle, just a recessed door top (I personally favor this, as it is one less mechanical part to break with expanded use).

The U.S. Government energy guide rated this refrigerator at an approximated yearly electricity use of 315 kWh, with an approximated yearly operating cost of 33.50 dollars.

14 of 14 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars This is the one!, June 25, 2010
By Reginald L. Audibert “Reggie A” (Nashville, TN USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Emerson 1.8 Cu. Ft Compact Refrigerator (Kitchen) there is already a solidly detailed review on the product, so I will not make this long just want to add a short note. When I decided to purchase a compact refrigerator for my bedroom, I projected it could take me 20 minutes to read some reviews and get one on order. I was wrong. The handling damage stated by customers bespeaks a awful track record, so I continued to search and discovered a department store website that could help me track down this model to a local store. I picked it up last week. The unit on the counter looked badly mauled. The unit was still in its container and I would not purchase that unit without having it unpacked at the store. They happened to have another unit in stock and brought it forward. With the packing in good condition I brought it home and plugged it in.
It’s delightful calm, cold, and the estimated yearly cost, based on your utility rates, is just $36 per year.
My my . . .

Eight of nine people found the following review helpful:
3.0 out of five stars NURSING HOME PERFECT, May 29, 2010
By Larry A. He “at Harvard” (Cambridge, MA USA) See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) This review is from: Sharp R 230KW 800 Watt 4/5 Cubic Foot Compact Microwave, White (Kitchen) I bought this microwave as an addition to my dorm room. I could liked a high powered microwave, but restraints on space and money stopped me. For the price and for the size, this microwave works rather well. There are many extra functions, but I just use the regular microwaving. The only thing that I don’t like about the microwave is that its interior rotating dish isn’t stable, and is prone to changing off its base with a somewhat unbalanced load. It was a useful buy.

100 of 110 people found the following review helpful:
1.0 out of five stars Avoid the Sharp R 230 (and other Sharp appliances), December 12, 2007
By MarkB (Santa Cruz, CA USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Sharp R 230KW 800 Watt 4/5 Cubic Foot Compact Microwave, White (Kitchen) This microwave oven worked good for seven weeks.
I used it to heat soup, and for oatmeal in the morning.

One morning it just broke.
The door closed, the light and fan came on, but there was no heat.
It emitted a burning plastic smell.

Sharp service told me that I required to have a Sharp authorized technician examine it before it may be replaced.

Unfortunately, the nearest Sharp authorized service place is a two hour round trip drive for me. They do not accept shipments, nor are they aren’t open on weekends.

This means that in order for me to get warranty service on this comparatively new product I could have to take a day off work , as it’s too far to drive on my lunch hour.

Also, one can not return a product to Sharp for examination; as per the warranty you have to “hand carry” or ship the item to a service location
(if the service place accepts shipments; mine doesn’t).

So I believe my current alternatives are:
1) find a local microwave service place, and pay for the service myself
Or
2) throw the oven away

I recommend not buying this microwave oven because it may break soon after buy.

I recommend not buying any Sharp appliance unless you know that a Sharp authorized service place is close by.

Best Regards and Good Luck!

Mark

30 of 31 people found the following review helpful:
1.0 out of five stars Died after six months of light use, April 4, 2008
By Leia Scofield See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Sharp R 230KW 800 Watt 4/5 Cubic Foot Compact Microwave, White (Kitchen) We lightly used this microwave about six months before it went “POP!” one day while heating many soup. The Krups BeerTender system is matched with the Heineken DraughtKeg system which utilizes an interior carbonator pressure unit. With 25 patented parts, the Heineken DraughtKeg unit releases Co2 every time the tap is opened, making sure the beer remains new for up to 30 days and lets for a crisp quality beer with Heinekens’ signature head of bubble and trademark “bite”. The Krups BeerTender Peltier silent cooling system gives constant and consistent cooling of the 5L Heineken DraughtKeg and will keep it at the ideal temperature of 37.4 degrees F. Easy to operate, just run the keg’s plastic tube to the Krups BeerTender tap and you are done. It is that simple. Inserting a keg takes less than 15 seconds. The Krups BeerTender has an LED display temperature display. It features a removable pour handle, removable draw spout, a removable tray and comes with five disposable draught keg tubes. Beautifully intended, the Krups BeerTender is matched with the Heineken DraughtKeg system: Heineken, Heineken Premium Light, Newcastle Brown Ale.

Krups B100 Beertender Reviews and Price:

One of one people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars High quality, slow cooling, January 22, 2011
By L. Bruce Jones (Coeur d’Alene, ID United States) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Krups B100 Beertender (Kitchen) This is a quality part of equipment that exceeds expectations for a $99 unit. It appears same to the T Fal unit but bears the Krupps label. The system uses Peltier cooling which isn’t as robust as refrigerant but draws far less power. Consequently it takes 18 hours to cool a five litre container of beer from room temperature. Pre cooling in your refrigerator obviates this issue. This isn’t an inexpensive way to drink beer, but it’s fun and delivers the proper total of carbonation. Hopefully more beer producers can offer the five litre kegs in future.

5.0 out of five stars Amazing!, January 24, 2011
By wordofsteve See all my reviews () This review is from: Krups B100 Beertender (Kitchen) Great product! Takes a while to get cold but so worth it . Also just to clarify, there’s no LCD on this model. Just a light display that it’s 1) on and 2) at the right temperature.

Shipping to:

Hillsboro
Largo
Albany<br It arrived as promised just plug it in and you’re on your way. I bought this model for two features: the sensor buttons and the inverter defrost button. An unexpected feature was the “keep warm” button. Cooked food or left overs may be kept warm for up to 30 minutes. A great feature. I’m pleased with this unit and could recommend it to anybody.

30 of 30 people found the following review helpful:
3.0 out of five stars looking at Display is a big Problem, otherwise good, August 5, 2008
By Norm (West Hollywood, CA United States) See all my reviews () This review is from: Panasonic NN SN667W, 1.2cuft 1300 Watt Sensor Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) This microwave is otherwise a five star, but the display drops it to a three star.

Problems:

1.) The display is polarized, so you can not view it from an angle above 45 degrees. This isn’t a problem from some number of feet away, but standing beside the microwave on the counter I have to bend down to see the display.

Until I have the microwave memorized I’ll generally have to bend over to set the microwave. This isn’t a problem on my old Panasonic.

2.) As noted in other reviews the interior lights only when the microwave is on, not when the door is open.

Good Aspects:

1.) This replaces a 15 year old Panasonic microwave of the same size which maked sound, though still working. This microwave is nearly twice as fast, almost silent, weighs half as much, and is good looking.

2.) After years of using Panasonic moisture sensor cooking I could never purchase any other brand till they can replicate this feature.

I could return this microwave except it appears all Panasonic microwaves now have the same kind of display. Hopefully Panasonic fixes this problem in future models.

For $130 I will use this microwave till Panasonic replaces this awful display on future models.

SEE ALSO REVIEW on alike product:

May 10, 2006 By Taubmeister
Panasonic NN H965BF Luxury Full Size 2.2 Cubic Foot 1,250 Watt Microwave Oven, Black

I own the predecessor to this model, the H964. It is the 2nd Panansonic microwave of this size that we have bought in just three years. The 1st lasted one 1/2 years and had to be repaired once. The second died three weeks after the warranty period. After literally eight calls to Panasonic buyer service (asking for the serial number, calling back with it, etc etc.) they agreed to at least cover the cost of a fix estimate (they sooner or later paid for the complete fix cost).

The problem was that the fuse had died. The authorized fix facilitiy told me that the only microwaves they ever get for fix are Panasonics; he said the problem is that to decrease their weight, they use smaller parts, like the tubes, which can not handle the load for long. He also said that their fuses do not last.

The fix person suggested either Sharp or Sanyo as much longer lasting. I checked the weight of a similar sized Sharp and saw that it weighed about six pounds more than the Panasonic presumably because many parts are heftier.

When this newly repaired Panasonic dies again, it’ll be long out of warranty , then we will attempt our luck with a Sharp. Replacing a microwave every 18 20 months isn’t my idea of money well spent.

22 of 22 people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars panasonic NN SN667B microwave, November 1, 2007
By S. Frohman (PA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Panasonic NN SN667W, 1.2cuft 1300 Watt Sensor Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) This replaced a alike sized Panasonic microwave oven that had a problem with the door button to get stuck or popping out. So far it looks to work well. It is quieter than the last mmodel and a little smaller for outside dimensions while the interior capacuty is the same as the old model. The inverter technology looks to work well for defrosting, much better than last microwaves I have owned, and the sensor reheat and cook work well also. My only complaint is that to use the sensor cook you key in a number from 1 9, but nowhere in the information does it explain what number corresponds to what kind of food you’re cooking. There are less costly microwaves out there with alike features except for the inverter technolgy, but I believe it is worth the extra.

Shipping to:<br Replaced an older Sharp with this one and it works great. Great style on the ‘chassis’ it is small, but fits all regular plates. Is it ‘better’ than another 800W Microwave? No. It seems better, works well. And is a bit more expense. I can take that.
However, one flaw impossible to miss is the IMPOSSIBLE to read display. Possibly the worst design ever; it is green, and can only be seen direct on (as it illumanted the 2nd reflective layer). Go ten degrees either side, you may also look at a green blob (or, if you move more, nothing). I assume Panasonic will fix this is afterward revisions, but this is unexcusable for something this standard. Mind you, head on (and I mean, HEAD on) it is good…
If you do not care what the display shows, a great unit. If you’re buyign this for someone with less than 39/39 eyesight….

19 of 19 people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars Great little microwave, but not perfect, August 8, 2009
By R. Daugherty (Columbus, OH USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Panasonic NN SD377S 0.8 cuft, Watt Stainless Steel Microwave Oven, Auto Cook (Kitchen) it is true, the display is unreadable unless you look at it straight on. It is hard to believe this microwave made it to the production line with this evident design flaw. This is a countertop model. I am 5’11″, and I have to stoop down to read the display. My wife is 5’3″. It is not so most of an issue for her.

The unit we received from had another flaw. The four feet would not rest flat on the counter. I solved this by sticking a 1/8″ thick rubber “furniture protector” thingy under one of the feet. I do not think our granite counter top is that far out of whack, so I am blaming the microwave.

Even with the faults taken into consideration, I still think this is the best microwave in this size. It has a nice hard feel, good buttons, intuitive controls, and it seems great in our stainless kitchen. It is just the right size for our needs. We do not do any serious cooking in it just reheating and defrosting and such and for that, it is perfect. Many small microwaves do not have a rotating turntable. This one does, and a dinner plate fits on it with room to spare. We are not popcorn eaters so I can not comment on how well it pops. Neither can I comment on its dependability, since we have only had it a month. If you research the matter, I think you will find all brands have their detractors these days, and there is no evident winner on interior quality. I did verify there was a Panasonic service center in my home town before purchasing.

17 of 17 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars As a microwave basics cook, this fits my needs perfectly. PS: I think Panasonic must fixed its display window problem, July 4, 2010
By Sharon Isch (Washington, DC USA) See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME) () This review is from: Panasonic NN SD377S 0.8 cuft, Watt Stainless Steel Microwave Oven, Auto Cook (Kitchen) the era of my old 600 watt Sharp must have been well into double digits when its carousel stopped going ’round, after a cup of milk I heated for hot chocolate fell over and drowned the system (although the microwave itself was still going strong.) It was my intention to replace it with another Sharp. But I chose this one instead because other Panasonic merchandise served me long and well and I’m especially fractional to a dial system, like my old Sharp’s but not available in that brand and favored it to keying in entries on an LCD pad, which many of the reviews here for the 800 watt Sharps sayed had a tendency to go pfft in short order.

Of course the Panasonic reviews groused about not being able to read the clock except head on. I decided I’d rather go for a hard to read clock/display window than a possibly flawed LCD panel, so I opted for this one and I am happy I did. I tried on many instances in the two weeks I have owned this microwave to find an angle from which I couldn’t read the clock and, attempt as I may, I can not find one. So I am guessing that someplace between all the complaints in these reviews and my purchasing my new microwave in June 2010, Panasonic must fixed that problem.

My uses for a microwave are pretty basic: I reheat, melt, thaw, pop, Stoufferize and steam frozen veggie melanges, and for those reasons this works beautifully, looks good, and fits the chosen space I have for it. I am happy with this product and will revisit this review if any of that changes.

Shipping to:

Gilbert
St Clair The unit’s auto 15 inch turntable assures heating, while its one touch sensor cooking changes power levels and calculates cooking times automatically, making reheating and cooking a range of foods easier than ever. A pulsing delivery of low microwave power keeps food temperature at a constant level without overcooking; the improved keep warm menu now will include five things, so foods like stew, gravy, and desserts remain warm in the oven till they are prepared to be served. Also, the microwave’s menu action screen adds to the in general convenience. It scrolls step by step cooking information across the display in English, Spanish, or French, while the function key simplifies the programming of ten useful, non cooking functions. Just press the function key and the menu action screen will display the steps needed to finish the wanted function. Other highlights include Inverter Turbo Defrost for thorough defrosting, a push button control panel, ten power levels, five multi stage cooking alternatives, and more/less control, also as a popcorn key, fast Minute, delay start, a timer, and auto reheat. The microwave oven measures 19 7/16 by 21 7/8 by 11 15/16 inches and carries a one year restricted warranty.

Panasonic NNH765BF FullSize 1.6CubicFeet 1250Watt Microwave Oven, Black Reviews and Price:

132 of 134 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars happy with this oven, July 26, 2006
By sarany See all my reviews () This review is from: Panasonic NN H765BF Full Size 1.6 Cubic Feet 1250 Watt Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) After having my 1st microwave for about 18 years, it died and I did many of research before deciding to purchase this Panasonic. Having gift certificates, free shipping and a $25 kitchen and housewares discount influenced my choice and I have to say it was a great purchase. I am happy with the evenness with which it cooks and defrosts.

I upgraded from a mid size 650 watt oven to this full size 1250 watt oven. I have to remind myself on occasion that everything needs less time to cook. But, there are many of pre programmed features in this unit that make it easier. As an example, there’s a sensor cook button that selects the time and power level for different types of foods based on how many times you tap the button. Types of food include baked potatoes, frozen pizza, frozen entrees, new vegetables, frozen vegetables and omelettes. I made a baked potato last night that has been cooked perfectly. There’s also a separate popcorn button (you can choose from three different bag sizes) that also worked perfectly. A More/Less button allows you to add or deduct time to the sensor and popcorn settings.

There are some different functions you may be able to choose or turn on and off. Many of the functions include language (English, French or Spanish), a choice of pounds or kilos, child lock, reminder beep (I turned that off because unlike my old oven which beeped every minute, this one beeps every 15 seconds which annoyed) and menu action which when turned on guides you through each step of cooking. There’s also a demo mode which is meant for retail displays but you may be able to see how everything works without really cooking anything.

Some other useful features are delayed start where you may be able to use the timer to set the oven to start cooking at a afterward time and a keep warm setting if you will not be taking your food out of the oven now. A fast Min button allows you to choose 1 9 minutes simply by tapping the button the proper number of times.

If you buy this, I could propose going through the owner’s manual a couple of times. I went through it once before I used the oven. A couple of days afterward I went through it again and discovered that I had overlooked many shortcuts.

The only down side for me with this oven is losing many more counter space in a small kitchen. Keep that in mind if you do not already have a full size oven.

UPDATE: it’s now 2010 and I realized I have been using this oven for three 1/2 years and I still love it! I do many of real cooking in it too, not just reheating, popcorn, etc.

49 of 49 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars great, January 26, 2007
By max843 See all my reviews () This review is from: Panasonic NN H765BF Full Size 1.6 Cubic Feet 1250 Watt Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) I have generally been fractional to Panasonic microwaves and this is one of the best. It has had constant daily use for over two months now with an excellent performance record.

In fact, I have only used my stove and oven twice because this buy (for a big frozen pizza). The sensors are correct oatmeal is perfect. With two frozen dinners, I had to add extra time, but everything else cooked, reheated or thawed as projected.

Earlier reviews mentioned resetting the clock and a deafening beep. Panasonic must listened to their customers as neither problem appears to be present on this model.

With 1250 watts, it does reheat more quickly than older models so I could propose decreasing the time till you get used to your new microwave.

UPDATE 10/21/2008 In December it’ll be two years still perfect!

41 of 41 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of five stars Best ever, July 31, 2007
By Philos See all my reviews () This review is from: Panasonic NN H765BF Full Size 1.6 Cubic Feet 1250 Watt Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) I have never been so happy with a microwave. It’s large enough to let the defrosting of a long block of chicken thighs, still short enough to fit in the restricted space I have to stash it. If you yearn for simple height and generous width, this is your oven.

It’s calm. It seems GREAT. It beeps to let you know when it is time to turn something over you’re defrosting, but will not shut off and wait for you to turn it. (Turning is optional.) it is clear from a bar display what power level you have set and is operating, which makes it simple to tell from a distance.

More on defrosting: My last micro only allowed up to 2.4 lbs in the display, so for that chicken block I was eternally re defrosting. Not this baby. Bring on your big freezer things, as long as they are not too tall. Up to six lbs may be entered in the display.

That “ENJOY YOUR MEAL” message that moves across the display when the cooking cycle ends is a nice touch.

UPDATE 8/02/2010 it is still doing the job and looking great.

Shipping to:

Weston
Albany
Kansas
Clifton
Lawrence<br Murray (Forest Hills, NY) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Sharp R 216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel (Kitchen) I really only use the microwave for popcorn, heating up meals, and heating up coffee. It is been totally perfectly good for that. One minor, minor thing is: there is no light on the inside when you open the door. That bugs me.

92 of 100 people found the following review helpful:
3.0 out of five stars Serves the function., November 1, 2007
By J. BELSKY See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Sharp R 216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel (Kitchen) Bought this compact microwave caused by my over the stove fitted GE Spacemaker XL magnatron taking a dump. Still had GE’s ten year free parts warranty left on the magnatron. GE wanted $275.00 labor and service call fee to replace it. Decided on the no frills 0.8cu ft Sharp Carousel.
I’m sure I may have gotten a better price had I invested more time and energy looking around, but has generally done right by me with no shipping charge and no sales tax.
This Sharp model is a bottom of the line unit. It’s cheaply made, rattles, is dull looking and the clock doesn’t light up. The light inside the oven only works when the unit is running. The door is cheaply made and has a somewhat hollow sound when it closes. All of that said, the unit does what it’s supposed to do. It heats evenly and reheats well. Looks powerful for it is wattage and makes popcorn just also as costly units. Bottom line, it is good for what I need.

72 of 78 people found the following review helpful:
4.0 out of five stars Much better than projected, and it does what it is supposed to do, September 18, 2007
By Ethan A. Winning “ewin64″ (Walnut Creek, CA) See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) () This review is from: Sharp R 216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel (Kitchen) We bought this because our over the range microwaves kept melting, and that was to get to be costly. This Sharp stays on a kitchen counter, and is comparatively small so it fits nicely beside our new toaster. This is our 5th microwave in 40 years. I do not know what others use their microwaves for, but 90 of the time, ours can be used to heat water for tea, reheat pizza and other dishes, and maybe reheating coffee (we’re not coffee snobs and, in fact, we have never been in a Starbucks). We don’t cook meals in a microwave, period. If what you want is a basic microwave, this could well be the one. But, note that the front black window is plastic, and the stainless steel is the thinnest gage made. Still, it cleans up nicely, does not scratch readily, and the controls are the simplest. One or two touches and you may be able to accomplish most basic “cooking” or reheating. It is surely well worth the price . Though $24 for shipping was a bit high.

Shipping to:

Fort Collins
Hamilton
San Leandro
Colorado Springs
Little
