Cooks ‘way too hot!!!
Though this slow cooker is much costly than others, I decided to purchase this one because it’s the only model that lets the cook to brown on the stove top, right in the stoneware pot, retaining the flavor of the “fond”, keeping away from the use of a second pan, etc.
Well, I should listened to the other reviewers who warned that this model cooks too hot, on the “low” setting. It is true.
I tried two recipes. Neither recipe obliged browning on the stove top. I carefully followed Rival’s information exactly, also as the Rival recipes exactly. Both recipes burned.
I am returning this item to Amazon. I have now ordered the Hamilton Beach model that buyer Reports rated highest.

Minor blips, but in general great!We find the little green display light kind of blinding from across the room! and the handles dangerously hot throughout and shortly after cooking, but this is otherwise a great deal. The other item I looked into was the All Clad Deluxe Slow Cooker from Williams Sonoma. At 1/4 the price, this is most acceptable alternative. I really enjoy not having to move a hot and heavy dripping roast from the pan I brown it in to the put to finish cooking! I appreciate that the put is dishwasher safe, but I found that I had to re scrub the bottom to get it clean.. but, this is most likely the function of not using the pots &, pans cycle on the dishwasher.

Rival Crock Pot six QuartIt’s amazing how far slow cookers have come. There’s little I can think of that could improve this product.

Does not warm upI was so excited to get this slow cooker and was dissapointed. I spent about five hours on high power to get many onions to brown and it never happened. I wasted two things with trying to get this slow cooker to work.
Don’t get it unless you want uncooked food and disappointment.
