4.0 out of five stars Search for the holy blender., July 31, 2006
By Band Dad (Orlando, FL) See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB560MC 5 Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar, Metallic Chrome (Kitchen) I have been looking for a blender for some weeks now. We started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the “Chocolate Elvis” recipe from the local smoothie place which holds peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target two weeks ago that had “700 watts peak power” on the box. It died in two days. The power specification on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that’s false advertisement. I have seen this on two different blenders now.

I have been leery of purchasing any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to avoid anything with only 450 watts.

I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. “Commercial quality couplers with twelve interlocking teeth..coated for calm operation”.

We have had it for some days now and have made many pretty thick smoothies. So far, so good. No burning smell like the one that was now obvious with the Target blender. My youngest daughter complanied that her smoothie was “too smooth”. I guess she got used to the chunks of ice that our past blenders have left.

Kitchenaid does not seem to promote the real power specifications on their blenders. On the bottom of this one it says that it draws six amps. Which is about 720 watts or about 0.9 hp.

My only complaint so far is the soft start feature. The blade starts at a slower speed then quickly increases to the speed you chose. This procedure still throws everything up into the cover, which is what it should prevent. It works good though as long as you have the cover on. It also works if you start with the slowest speed and work your way up.

Overall this blender looks to be well made and pretty well thought out. The cord storage on the bottom is a great feature. It has much larger feet than the last model. So far, I could greatly recommend this blender for the person looking for a good blender in the under $200 range.

Added comments:
It is a year and about 300 smoothies afterward and we still have the blender. I could greatly recommend it!!

5.0 out of five stars They Redesigned The Container (carafe)!!!, May 25, 2008
By Robert Derenthal “bucherwurm” (California United States) See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) () This review is from: KitchenAid 5 Speed Blenders with Polycarbonate Jars (Kitchen) We bought this Kitchenaid blender over a year ago, and after some number of months the container started to leak. The leak was small, and we put up with it for awhile. We got tired of the mess, but, and called the factory. We were told that the container had been redesigned, and they could send us a new one now though our warranty had ended. When we got the new one we could see that it had indeed been redesigned, and used it for many time now, and NO LEAKS. A leak evidence container plus the other great features of this blender now warrant a certain five stars.

5.0 out of five stars Love it Love it Love it, September 12, 2006
By socalgal (Los Angeles, CA) See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB560MC 5 Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar, Metallic Chrome (Kitchen) After going through two Waring PBB blenders one motor died and blades on both pitchers broke soone after buy and many hours of research both online and in store I went out and bought the ksb560 today (would bought it here but I had a 20 off coupon for store). I was unwilling to purchase a “plastic” pitcher but this one is light but tough and dishwasher safe, though I could not put in dishwasher but just rinse out after each use. The pitcher has small pinholes on the bottom so when it’s turned upside down it drains any extra water left over from washing and doesn’t effect the pitcher otherwise i.E. Doesn’t leak contents when upright. Over that it has a soft grip handle to make holding it easier and is easy to place on and remove from base. A glass or stainless pitcher is available. The blender base is made of lasting metal and not cheap plastic like other models. The clutch on this specific model was redesigned and better than the other alike KitchenAid five speed. I visited KitchenAid’s online forum and learned the company really listens to its customer’s complaints about the clutch breaking off so easily. Now for the best part, its quiet!! It blends perfectly and in spite of what others have said about the slight hesitation or what KA calls “soft start” when you 1st turn it on I really didn’t notice. The ice crush feature works great, I used it this morning on my frozen strawberries and everything has been crushed, no small lingering lumps. I haven’t used it on ice still but the manual says you may be able to crush ice without the use of water or liquid which can be a plus for many but ice crushing isn’t my major use. I use this 2x/day for protein shakes one for me and one for spouse. Another BIG plus and kudos to KitchenAid is that they’ll replace it if the blender fails inside the first year and they’ll arrange for substitute sent to you free.

Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet Wok Price and Description:
Review The Breville gourmet wok updates the electric wok design in every detail. For starters, its 1500 watt butterfly element is recessed around the base to create a heat zone over the complete surface excellent conditions for fast searing and stir frying. The variable heat probe will include 14 settings plus “high sear” for exact control, and the 14 inch diameter die cast wok bowl is roomy enough to manage whatever’s prepared in the garden. Intended for simpler clean up, scratch resistance, and reduced fat cooking, the wok’s surface is a four ply Quantanium covering, combining titanium reinforced mid coats with a lasting nonstick outside. The glass cover is satisfyingly heavy with a stainless steel rim and a convenient steam vent. The most striking difference between this and your old electric wok is the quick release base that allows you to put everything but the temperature probe and power cord in the dishwasher. Breville also will include a temperature display light, a booklet of recipes and info, and a plastic spatula. Emily Bedard

5.0 out of five stars Hottest Wok I have Ever Used, September 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet Wok (Kitchen) This Wok has many serious heat. As a professional chef with Asian style recipes on the menu I have used many a stove top wok. Till now I’d never found an electric wok that could produce enough heat to sear in the flavors of meats and vegetables. Not only does the Breville Electric Wok deliver as much heat as a top of the range stove top wok, its surface is non stick so I can use less oil for healthier results. Every thing about the wok is smart, from the removable base, to the dishwasher safe parts, to the cook and look glass cover. Whoever intended this is in to wok cooking in a big way. Smart, stylish, hot.

5.0 out of five stars Great HOT wok with great information, February 6, 2006
By Andante51 (Detroit burbs) See all my reviews This review is from: Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet Wok (Kitchen) I have done a just total of stirfry over the years, and for a long time had a professional level one alike to this Breville. Once it died, I didn’t get another, and anytime I tried to do stirfry on the oven it was a catastrophe. A new pretty powerful $800 gas oven didn’t get the on the stove pan hot enough. I could end up ‘stewing’ the food, and it bore little likeness to my stirfry’s of the past.

I was impressed with the excellent information that are provided in the book this comes with. I studied all their info for an hour, and has been amazed at the things I didn’t know, or had forgotten. Someone who never stirfried before could get 1st rate results by studying just some pages. Little things are vital I used to just turn it on, and throw in the oil and wait for it to get hot. WRONG! you’re supposed to turn it on EMPTY, let it get hot, and only then put in the oil. And I realized I had started to get lazy, and wasn’t doing smaller batches of things at a time, which does end up with better results.

If I have to get things out of the pan, I just hold a big bowl or plastic container beside it, and slide stuff up the side and out or I just tip it up and dump it on a plate. Though it’s good to know that once every not many months I could really take it separately for an old fashioned cleaning, all you really have to do is clean it out with a sponge. The non stick surface is great. The temperature dial is excellent, and it comes with the most heavy responsibility cord you ever saw!

Stir fry is my teenaged son’s favorite meal, and without a good wok, I hardly ever cooked it for him. Now when I tell him we are having stir fry, he’s thrilled. Remember this thing could be good for many more than just stirfry too. I has been amazed that it may slow cook also. I can make beef stew a one pot dish. Can not wait to attempt it out on tempura, which it’ll also be great for! There are many of great recipes in the book.

3.0 out of five stars Wok is really hot but what is with the non stick surface?, March 10, 2008
By Daniel F. Moore (Yarmouth, Maine USA) See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) () This review is from: Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet Wok (Kitchen) I bought this wok depending on the reviews posted here. I have to say that I agree that it gets really hot and I’m amazed at how well it performs. That being said, I noticed that the non stick surface has many of surface scratches and I use a plastic spatula. Yesterday, I made Beef Lo Mein and the pan was just as great as beforehand. But, upon washing it up in the sink, I noticed that a part of the non stick had peeled off. My experience with that covering suggests that this will continue to happen as I use the appliance more frequently. This is disappointing as this is the best performing wok that I have ever used. I am crossing my fingers hoping that the non stick will not continue to peel. That could surely deceive the in general performance of an otherwise excellent appliance

This vacuum sealer from Rival allows you to preserve your leftovers, bulk foods, and vital papers far more effectively than using zipper lock bags or plastic wrap. Save time, save money, and preserve the taste and nutritional value of the foods you buy. Preserve your leftovers, bulk foods, and vital papers far more effectively than using zipper lock bags or plastic wrap. Click here for a bigger image Air Out. Freshness In.
Why Vacuum Seal?
If you are wanting to preserve food, vacuum sealing takes air out of the equation. Air can cause oxidation, robbing food of its new taste. It can cause dehydration, which hardens foods and promotes freezer burn. It may also expedite mold and bacteria growth. A secure vacuum seal protects your food against all of this, keeping it nice and new. The Seal a Meal system keeps food new for up to five times longer than regular storage techniques. Vacuum trough catches overflow liquids, and is dishwasher safe. How Long Will Food Stay Fresh?
The Seal a Meal system keeps food new for up to five times longer than regular storage techniques. Here are some examples: In the Freezer: it is generally hard to keep meat, particularly fish, new. Seal a Meal keeps fatty fish like salmon and sea trout new for up to one year. In the Refrigerator: anybody who’s ever stored berries knows how quickly they turn. The Seal a Meal System keeps berries at their best for 1 2 weeks. In the Pantry: your beloved cookie recipe makes three dozen too many to eat before they go stale. The Seal a Meal System keeps homemade cookies oven fresh for 3 6 weeks. How Does It Work?
The sealer could not be easier to use, with its easy press/hold & release system. Grab a back, place your food inside, and it is vacuum sealed with the touch of a button the sealing strip gives and airtight seal. An display light allows you to know when it is prepared, and you may be able to cancel the procedure at any time, if needed. When you are done, cleanup is a breeze. The sealer features a vacuum trough to catch overflow liquids, and has a dishwasher safe drip tray treated with antimicrobial protection. A bag kit is included to get you started, and the sealer works with Seal a Meal and FoodSaver heat seal bags and rolls. With a Rival Vacuum Food Sealer you can:
Keep leftovers as new and delicious as the day they were prepared. Prepare make ahead meals over the weekend, then store them for easy weeknight reheating. Purchase food in bulk then freeze for later use in meal or serving size portions. Marinate meats in minutes instead of hours. Store fragile or moist foods with convenient canisters (not included). Seal and store meals in serving sized portions for simple and efficient part control. Seal treasured photographs, collectible books, birth certificates or another valuable things. Technical Specs

By Jill R See all my reviews This review is from: Rival Vacuum Sealer This is a great no frills product. At 1/3 the cost of the “fancy brand name” sealer this unit does just what it’s supposed to do..remove air and seal the bag. Sure there are units out there that have more bells and whistle but what do you expect for $50?? and on the gold box deal it is better!!!

OK, so you can not manually stop the suction to seal soft foods and there’s no hose to do canisters but again, for the price it does what it’s supposed to. One thing it has and the cool ones do not is the removable tray for liquids. After doing many chicken it is good to have the part come out to get properly washed!

It makes sound yes.. it is a machine! I bet those complaining about how deafening it’s also complain about the sound of the ice from falling from the ice maker..

If you want a vacuum sealer and do not want to use up $100+ this one does the job perfectly (and uses the foodsaver bags too, just put the textured side up).

4.0 out of five stars Same as any other brand seal wrapper, January 27, 2011
By dvd watcher “sjr” (bloomfield hills, mi) See all my reviews This review is from: Rival Vacuum Sealer I owned another brand by foodsaver. It was deafening. It took about a minute to seal. You have to line the suction just entitlement to remove the air. Unless you were blind you could tell when it was done. Rival’s product does what it’s supposed to do. About the sound it’s like complaining about a vacuum or air compressor for being deafening. You do not like the sound do not use it. It works.

5.0 out of five stars Works good for me, January 27, 2011
By Danny Newport “..Danny” (Canton, Ohio United States) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Rival Vacuum Sealer I bought this from woot and it did not take long at all to get here. Sure it’s deafening making the sound of the suction pump running but I projected that. The cover is hard to push down but it works good. It sucks the air out and seals the bag , then shuts off. Good product for the money. I plan on to get lots of use out of this once I get more bags as four just is not enough.
